(i)GCSE Fine Art
GCSE / IGCSE Art and Design is primarily delivered as a "Fine Art" course. Whilst the courses have seen many changes over the last 10 years in terms of the way that teachers have incorporated more contemporary practices and artist references, it still remains a fairly traditional way of studying art with many boundaries. This is especially true of IGCSE in which 3 A1 preparation boards plus an A1 final exam outcome (or photos of a 3D outcome) are sent to the exam board. This means that work must be mounted and selected in a very particular way. whereas gcse enables us to submit a much broader and thorough portfolio of work. this encourages a wider range of skills and specialisms.
