The National Gallery London released a 5 minute meditation this week, in which a Turner painting was used as means to focus and relax. As well as obvious benefits to mental health, the purpose of the meditation was also to encourage viewers to really look at an artwork, rather then giving it a passing glance. Students in Year 10, responded to this with their own guided meditations as one of their online learning tasks. Using an artwork of their choice, they planned and recorded a meditation in the hope of sharing it with the school community to encourage mindfulness and reflection. In fact, some of the videos are now being used with the younger years as part of their Wellbeing lessons.
